Developer: EA Digital Illusions CE Platform: PC, Playstation 3, Xbox 360 Release: 2010 It's funny to think that Battlefield was once one of the most solid, reliable multiplayer FPS franchises out there, before Battlefield 3 came along and introduced an overwhelming amount of DLC and microtransactions. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 was the series at its finest, offering squad-based combat on a large scale along with a number of welcome new additions for the series. Key to Battlefield: Bad Company 2's success was its multitude of brilliantly varied maps, which suited the various game modes perfectly. The 'Rush' game mode in particular was complemented by the large, elongated environments that offered seemingly limited strategic options for both attackers and defenders. The game might not have been quite what Battlefield 2 purists were hoping for, but it remains one of the best console FPS titles for large-scale battling.
