20 Greatest Strategy Games Of All Time

4. Age Of Empires II: The Age Of Kings

Developer: Ensemble Studios Released: 1999 Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings might be over 15 years old, but it still represents one of the best overall packages in gaming. The single-player campaign is an entertaining romp through history, while the multiplayer is remarkably well-balanced, fiercely competitive fun. With thirteen civilizations for players to choose from in multiplayer skirmishes, Age of Empires II offered endless replayability, helped along by the brilliant map maker and large number of special game modes. The gameplay is easy to grasp, while still being incredibly deep, while some creative units like the Monk have gone on to be genre classics. If you're looking for a great LAN party game, look no further than last year's HD remake of this gem.
