20 Most Hotly Anticipated Games Still To Come In 2014

7. Assassin's Creed: Unity (Oct 28)

The Assassin's Creed franchise is one of the major commercial juggernauts in gaming these days, and that said, the series has begun to feel a little vanilla over the last few years, for while the quality of the craft is undeniable, we just crave something a little...different. While Unity doesn't seem to be radically reinventing the series, it does offer a few pleasant flourishes, as well as a gorgeous, fully next-gen presentation. Indeed, the first thing apparent about the footage shown off at E3 is that the game looks fantastic: the quality of the lighting has been massively boosted, the animations have never looked more slick, and the ridiculously large crowds are clearly going to give the PS4 and Xbox One tech a nice work-out. The most notable addition is that of drop-in, drop-out multiplayer, allowing you to perform assassination missions with your friends if you get a little fatigued from the single player campaign. The fantastic demo assembled for E3 shows off how well this fits into the Assassin's Creed play-style, and so hopefully it will catch on with gamers, giving the series an entirely new dimension. As for the campaign, we won't expect anything but business as usual. But please, tone down the tailing missions, OK? Predicted MetaCritic Score: 82
