20 LAZIEST Video Game Re-Releases They Thought You'd Buy
9. Pokémon FireRed & LeafGreen (2026)
Back in 2004, Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen gave many fans of the original games what we wanted: the Red, Blue and Yellow story, characters and world on the GameBoy Advance, with all the bells, whistles and current (for that time) features one would expect from a Pokémon game. And these games were brilliant.
We returned to Pallet Town with a spring in our step – literally, because this time we had running shoes. Like always, we there were the original 150 creatures to catch across the familiar Kanto region, but for these upgraded versions, we could now explore the Sevii Islands and snag ourselves an additional sixty-five second- and third-gen Pokémon.
But this isn’t what we’re here to talk about. No, instead we look to the most recent re-release of FireRed and LeafGreen, which just dropped on the Switch a few months ago. Strange, after their early success with revamping these games, to think that Nintendo would port them onto their current console and do… well, nothing. Nothing new, nothing expanded, nothing improved – just a straight port, and the same games all over again, for an extra £16.99 apiece.
