Y'know what Infinite Warfare was trying to go for? The whole 'running on walls', 'using high-tech suits and power classes'-type stuff? That's what Titanfall ab-so-lutely owns.

Developed by former Infinity Ward guys - the ones who made Modern Warfare what it is - Jason West and Vince Zampella, playing Titanfall feels like tapping into the future of first-person shooters. There's such a confidence behind how everything moves - the ground-boosting, mid-air dodging, summoning of Titans etc. - that nobody even comes close to.

Infinite Warfare felt like Activision commanding their development studios to change tact and combat a world where Titanfall had taken over, which obviously never came to be thanks to the first Titanfall failing to catch on, but for the second go-round, Respawn Entertainment were ready. They'd patched themselves up, considered what went wrong and play-tested until their sequel was gleaming.

Titanfall 2 may go on to be the most underrated shooter of all time, but for those currently playing, there's nothing like it.
