1. Sarah's Death - The Last Of Us

Charting Naughty Dog's history from making isometric RPGs to orange marsupials is pretty crazy - but to think that they now deliver some of gaming's most mature and contemplative scenes is truly impressive.

The Last of Us deserves every last one of its awards and commentaries on how to fully immerse the player in a given atmosphere and character-driven plight, but the opening scene with Joel and his daughter Sarah is also an exemplary piece of acting from Troy Baker and Hana Hayes.

Coming after the latter caught a stray bullet during a tense standoff, Baker has to act out a formerly tough, fairly together individual cradling his daughter as she slowly dies in his arms.

With Neil Druckmann's direction and Troy Baker showing Joel's hard exterior cracking to varying degrees as it happens, it's no doubt a moment all involved are immensely proud of pulling off.
