7. God Of War II
It tends to be the middle-child of any eventual trilogy that does everything better than its sandwiched-in brethren, and by a landslide God of War 2 is the finest of the lot by Sony for their entrail-flinging deluge into Greek mythology. Continuing where the last game left off - but before Kratos became a giant bald parody of himself - you're off in search of Pandora's Box, dicing up anything that gets in the way. That means even gorier quick-time events that ALWAYS end in tearing something in half with your bare hands, more epic showdowns between the angry Spartan and some suitably gargantuan mythical beasts, and gallons upon gallons of blood soaking everything. God of War might be supremely long in the tooth now, but these first two entries proved there was something to Sony Santa Monica's formula that was truly special.
