FromSoftware's Elden Ring is a masterpiece that must be seen to be believed. It's the type of game that shows how far the industry has come, seeming to feature not an inch of compromise for Hidetaka Miyazaki's vision of a spell-binding fantasy land. Locations like the star-lit Siofra River, the magically infused Academy of Raya Lucaria, or the magma-drenched bombast of Volcano Manor make it an absolute dream for fans of the fantasy genre. 

Yet, while it's a hard decision to make, there can be no doubt that the city housing the roots of the Erdtree itself, Leyndell, is the most impressive of all. 

Leyndell, Royal Capital, is a city so full of detail you can feel it teeming out of the screen. The golden colour scheme and grandiose architecture, matched with hints of decay, truly enrich the story of Marika's Golden Order and how far it has fallen. The pièce de résistance, of course, is the colossal dragon corpse that lies petrified amid the streets. It's a massive landmark that you can even climb, giving you a wonderful look into the near boundless scale this game manages to capture.
