20 Underrated Hidden Gaming Gems Of The Current Generation You Need To Play

1. SOMA

Frictional Games

Like a game with a truly brilliant story?

Good, then you should play SOMA. Simple as.

I'd say more, but I went into Frictional Games' little masterpiece purely through curiosity and an interest in the visuals, only to come away knowing I had to tell as many people as possible about how incredibly well put together it all is.

Frictional themselves have always had a talent for pure, genuine fear - the sort that builds through a game's subtle use of distant sound effects, "there's something in this room with me" sensations, and slow, methodical progression through a given world.

Add to that, a brilliantly mind-bending story about a car crash survivor attempting to recover some brain function by taking part in an experimental procedure - only to wake up in a nightmarish world instead - and you've got one of what is hands-down, one of the most overlooked, yet masterfully created video games of our time.
