20 Video Game Movie and TV Moments That INSULTED Fans

Jeff Fowler’s Sonic movie managed the unimaginable, not only creating a live action Sonic that actually works (voiced by Ben Schwartz), but spawning a big ol’ franchise that has been paying dividends since. The first film laid the groundwork and got our blue furry friend and his arch-nemesis Dr Robotnik (Jim Carrey) off to a flying start, before the second instalment dropped in to expand the universe.

Sonic The Hedgehog 2 brings fan-favourites Knuckles (Idris Elba) and Tails (Colleen O'Shaughnessey) into the fold, on a head-to-head journey to find the Master Emerald. And, while it is undeniably a solid film and a worthy successor to the first, it does have a couple of moments that left fans of the game cringing – the wedding most of all.

This irrelevant side-plot sees side character Rachel and her fiancée Randall (Natasha Rothwell and Shemar Moore) build up to getting married, before the whole thing is revealed to be a sting operation by the Guardian Units of Nations (GUN) called “Operation Catfish”, designed solely to snare Sonic. It’s dumb, it’s filler, and it takes way too much time away from the main action and characters we care about to focus on characters we don’t.
