20 Video Game NPCs You CAN'T Afford To Lose

2. Krem - Dragon Age: Inquisition

Krem Dragon Age Inquisition
BioWare

Cremisius Aclassi, better known as Krem, is one of the most iconic characters from Dragons Age: Inquisition. He is one of the first transgender characters to ever appear in a BioWare game, serving in Iron Bull's band of mercenaries who consider him "Aqun-Athlok," which is a Qunari title for people "born as one gender but living as another."

Krem is a character most people want to protect simply due to how unique and fun he is to hang with, but if you ever needed another reason to keep him alive, the game actually gives you one.

Being second-in-command for the Iron Bull's Chargers, Krem is obviously heavily tied to Iron Bull's personal storyline. In fact, depending on your choices, Krem can die during Iron Bull's companion side quest, and this can bear serious consequences on your relationship with the Qunari warrior.

If you order the Bull's Chargers to sacrifice themselves during the assault on the Venatori, in the game's epilogue, Iron Bull will unexpectedly betray you and join forces with the hostile Ben-Hassrath, leaving your party and attacking you on the spot.

If you want to keep Iron Bull as your companion and spare yourself having to fight the epilogue with one less party member, make sure Krem doesn't die.
