14. Center Of The Galaxy - Spore

Spore Planet Buster
EA

Every campaign in Spore, the evolution sim from Maxis, is a journey from being a single-cell organism to becoming an advanced space-faring civilization. Regardless of what paths to advancement you take, it all ultimately culminates with one defining moment—reaching the center of the galaxy.

This journey is the de facto goal of the space stage of Spore. Your alien civilization will task you with it as soon as you find your footing in the stars, and as you may imagine, the path to the galactic core is a perilous one.

Aside from the enormous distance you have to traverse, the core is surrounded by the evil Grox empire, who will fire at your ship the moment you fly into their star systems. It takes a ton of ship upgrades to survive the journey, but once you reach the core, you will get to experience a special interaction that you will not be able to ever repeat on the same save file.

Upon entering the galactic core, Steve, a flying saucer, greets your ship and congratulates you on your achievement by handing you 42 charges of the Staff of Life that can instantly terraform your planets.

After visiting Steve, you can't re-enter the core with the same species, so it's smart to preserve the Staff of Life for special occasions.
