Usually video game abilities are pretty clear about what they do. Their exact powers are all described and labeled, making it easy to understand what exactly you can do with them.

However, sometimes the scope of your skills secretly extends beyond what the game is willing to tell you. You might assume that your character's powers are limited to their description, but in reality, they hold hidden extra powers that can make the tools at your disposal more useful if you just discover them.

Of course, since the secret ability is secret, it can take a lot of trial and error to find it, but the discovery is almost always worth it, as it can give you awesome rewards in exchange or make your already powerful skills even stronger.

From gestures that give you hidden items to seemingly useless skills that can be turned into weapons of mass destruction with the right help, the following skills have more uses than meet the eye. If you're curious to see what their true potential looks like, the following list is for you.

20. Kicking - Dead Island

Dead Island
Techland

Dead Island, the tropical zombie survival game, features four distinct heroes, each equipped with their own unique skills and stats to tackle the apocalypse on Banoi.

Picking the right character and pairing them with the right weapons is a pretty big deal if you want to make sure you can survive on the island.

However, if you don't feel like investing too much time optimizing your build, you can just try the game's most powerful weapon—kicking.

Although Dead Island teaches you that kicking is best used as a means of pushing zombies away from you, it is secretly the deadliest tool in your arsenal.

The kick deals minimal damage when knocking zombies down, but once they're on the floor, kicking them in the head deals critical damage that scales with your level and can damage zombies harder than even legendary weapons.

Best of all, there are next to no penalties for spamming your kicks, since they don't decay like regular weapons, use very little stamina, and zombies are immediately repelled by them.

Some characters like Purna and Sam B can even boost your kicks further, upgrading them with stamina recovery and finishers, making them even more powerful.

Behold the kick of death!
