Mortal Kombat Deception Onaga
NetherRealm

After he made a brief appearance in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, follow-up Mortal Kombat: Deception introduced fans to a new antagonist, the Dragon King Onaga who, in a totally fresh twist for a Mortal Kombat villain, wants to conquer all the realms.

Kidding aside, he was actually a breath of fresh air compared to the overdone usual suspects like Shao Kahn and Shang Tsung, and he's got a friggin' awesome design to boot.

But Onaga's mortal form is destroyed at the end of Deception, when legendary warrior Shujinko shatters the Kamidogu artifacts that bestow Onaga with invulnerability, allowing him to absolutely body him in kombat.

And while, as is Mortal Kombat tradition, Onaga does return in sequel Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, his presence throughout the franchise has been muted ever since - a clear indication that Ed Boon found himself a distinct new antagonist and then... didn't really do much with him at all.

And back to Shao Kahn and Shang Tsung we went...
