20 Video Game Villains You Couldn’t Wait To Kill
1. Hitler - Sniper Elite V2 (2012)
Sniper Elite offers all the fun of Call of Duty camping, plus maximum bloodshed and gore. The basic premise of V2 is that we are an American OSS officer operating in Berlin during the final days of the second World War, tasked with eliminating the group of scientists who built the German V-2 rocket before the Red Army can get their hands on them. And guess who else is in Berlin at this exact same time?
Hitler. It’s Hitler.
Bundled with V2 as a pre-order bonus on release, the mission Assassinate the Führer allows us to set up, lock in and blow the ever-loving hell out of the villain we have all wanted to kill since we first heard what he’d done. And, being Sniper Elite, it doesn’t take this opportunity lightly. In excessively graphic detail we get to shatter the bones and splatter the streets with the blood of the Austrian painter, with full slow-motion, tissue penetration and skeletal impact effects. The bullet can be sent in any number of places, from any angle, slaking a decades-long bloodthirst in so many possible ways.
It’s graphic, grim and the very epitome of video game violence, allowing us to stick it to the ultimate bad guy one more time. Though this is far from where the fun ends, with Hitler becoming a recurring character in the franchise, allowing us to upgrade with each instalment and go to town on the Fuhrer again and again.
