25 Best Selling Video Games Of All Time - Ranked
21. Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
Sales: 26.5 million (#14)
Verdict: 2011's Modern Warfare 3 is pretty much the point at which the PS3 and Xbox 360 began to feel the strain of supporting the Call of Duty franchise. Yes, MW3 is still a reliably entertaining shooter, but the bland textures and general lack of effort put into the presentation had players either hoping for a new engine or a new console to play the series on.
The campaign mode is largely forgettable and pretty much just more of the same, and though the multiplayer retains the series' signature addictive quality, the maps on the whole just aren't especially memorable. The addition of Survival mode (taking the place of Nazi Zombies) is fun, but it's not exactly breaking the mold now, is it?
This is the first CoD game to genuinely underwhelm a large portion of the fan-base, but that didn't stop it from being a sales juggernaut, of course. It's still a solid shooter, just too much of the same.
