2K has announced that 10 new wrestlers and 20 new customisation items are coming as part of a free update to their WWE Battlegrounds video game this month.

On Friday 6 November (today), players will be able to download Goldberg, Batista and The Usos. Come Wednesday 11 November, you'll be able to get your hands on The Ultimate Warrior, Eddie Guerrero and Lita. Then, on Wednesday 18 November, Trish Stratus, Booker T and Ruby Riott will be available for download.

Some of those stars come with caveats; The Usos, Guerrero, Lita and Riott need to be unlocked by completing various objectives in-game. Of course, it's a 2020 video game, so players can pay real money to unlock these wrestlers immediately via dreaded microtransactions instead.

Each update will be complemented with a range of fresh customisation items that players can use. These include "outfits, face paint, arena designs, color schemes, and more".

2K Games are clearly hoping that this will extend Battlegrounds' shelf life. The arcade-style brawler was always presented as a stopgap between WWE 2K20 and the next entry in that main line series. Right now, that's expected to be WWE 2K22 in late-2021.
