Talk about a game that came out of nowhere and just.absolutely.dominated, Overwatch has been one of Blizzard's biggest runaway successes ever since launching back in May 2016.

Essentially launching an entire new sub-genre many have come to call the 'hero shooter', it's a natural extension of Call of Duty 4's perk system or the age-old RPG trope of "Playing your class". Overwatch's combat is a beautiful concoction of stunning visuals, various characters firing off everything from flying punches to jetpack-boosted rocket flurries, and lots of one-liners, charm and banter between combatants.

Literally combining every major shooting franchise into one (Like COD? Play Soldier: 76. Far Cry? Hanzo. Titanfall? D.Va), Blizzard came along when all of us were just sick enough of Call of Duty and other militaristic shooters, to offer something that plays just as good as it looks, cultivating a fanbase of millions that are playing as you read this.
