5 Classic Video Games Of The '90s

4. Crash Bandicoot

crashb I had a tough time tossing up between Crash and a certain purple, fire-breathing lizard but in the end the granddaddy of platform gaming won. The original mascot for Playstation One spun onto our screens in 1996 with his first few outings developed by Naughty Dog, the marsupial was a staple for any 90's gamer and I remember it being quite addictive, it was the game that forced my dad into realising he had a problem when he sat down and played it for 8 hours without a break. The predecessor to modern titles such as Uncharted and Mirror's edge, Crash wasn't the first of its generations 3-d platformers but it was (in my opinion) the best. Crash's signature move was his spin attack, which you use to defeat the various levels foes and smash crates full of the games collectibles called Wumpa fruit. Against todays standards the game is graphically unappealing but in its heyday it was stunning with levels ranging from lush tropical jungle, to the antagonists high-walled castle Crash Bandicoot is one game I will remember for my lifetime.
