3. Chrono

Criminally overlooked by many, the Chrono series has already been introduced to a new generation in a way (through a DS remake of Chrono Trigger), but has never been released in a collection. As a result, few people know that a side-story (Radical Dreamers, never released outside of Japan) and sequel (Chrono Cross) even exist. Chrono Trigger is frequently listed as being amongst the greatest games of all time, being a collaboration between a dream team of developers and production staff responsible for signifcant contributions to the Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest and Xenogears series, amongst other things. With a rich story incorporating time travel, the game has proved so popular since its release in 1995 that fans have created their own enhanced remake and even a sequel, both of which were distributed on the internet before legal proceedings ensured their demise. Another game, of sorts, was made in 1996. This was Radical Dreamers, a text-based adventure that is one of the most expensive games in existence, given its rarity. A more mainstream successor, Chrono Cross, followed on the PS1 in 2000, incorporating Radical Dreamers into its storyline and replacing it in the series continuity. It was never released in Europe, however, an almost criminal decision considering the acclaim it received from critics and gamers alike. The most feasible way of collecting the series for the first time and introducing it to a new audience would be in the form of a collection, perhaps for the Playstation Vita or Nintendo 3DS, as opposed to consoles, where their graphical limitations would be highly apparent, giving gamers the deserved opportunity to experience a near-perfect pair of RPGs.
