5 Lessons The AEW Video Game Can Learn From Previous Wrestling Games
3. Better Representation
We've come a long way in both wrestling and gaming. Gone are the days where games like Rumble Roses are released aimed at pleasing the fantasies of teenage boys. Gone are the days in which women in wrestling were made to face off in bra and panties matches for the viewing pleasure of creepy old dudes like Jerry Lawler.
Wrestling games have been improving the representation of women in line with the division being more respected in the product. This is evident in Becky Lynch being made the cover star of the upcoming WWE 2K20 (even if she is sharing the honour with Roman Reigns) but progress has been slow. It's taken WWE this long to include the option to play as a female wrestler in the MyCareer mode and fans have been asking for this for a while.
AEW seems to pride itself on its diversity and its focus on all types of wrestling. It seems unlikely that the game to go along with the product won’t reflect this.
