5. The Console Wars Were Only Ever A Two Horse Race
While all console gamers have Nintendo to thank for pioneering console gaming back in the 1980s, Nintendo was never really a major combatant in the console wars. There is no doubting the success of the Nintendo Wii, Nintendo's motion control console, the controller of which (WiiMote) caused much controversy as well as
some injured gamers and damaged TV sets. The figures speak for themselves, the Wii has outsold both the XBOX360 and PS3 with almost 100Million units opposed to the 76 and 77 million Sony and Microsoft have shifted. But it seems the Wii U has cemented Nintendo's spot as a non contender for the gold medal in gaming. This week Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata admitted that
Nintendo were to blame for poor Wii U sales, which is still 3.5 million consoles since December 2012. An honest and very humble company executive it must be said.
