5 Underrated PS1 Games That Had Amazing Openings

3. Dino Crisis 2

DINO-CRISIS

Dino Crisis 2 is one of those rare examples where the sequel surpasses the original. The original tried to be Resident Evil with dinosaurs, and while it was pretty good, Dino Crisis 2 took the series to a whole new level. And the opening scene is just breathtaking. After a brief summary of the events from the first, it opens to a huge transport boat crashing into the middle of a lake with lush green backgrounds, and we are introduced to Dylan, a new character and Regina, the returning female lead from Dino Crisis. The characters are rendered beautifully and you can almost sense the hustle while they set up camp. You can almost feel the fear of these soldiers while they are being eviscerated by Velociraptors. The music adds to the scene perfectly until it dies off and screen shakes and all can be heard is the ominous sound of something huge approaching and you don't need to be Dr. Alan Grant to figure out what it is. On cue, out pops the T-Rex whose ear shattering roar escapes its jaws while it gives chase to Dylan and Regina. After a split decision to jump from the cliff they are on, they escape the T-Rex and tumble down the embankment, then the main game starts just where the opening scene left off, I find that this touch has been lost over time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zFW2xj0xhU0
