50 Greatest Video Game Villains Of All Time!

5. Sephiroth (Final Fantasy VII)

Any Final Fantasy Fan will no doubt have the memory of this villain etched into their minds. Sephiroth was originally one of Shinras Soldiers division, and a bit of a hero among them, however after visiting the Nibelheim Mansion and finding out he was a product of Shinras bio-experiments, he was driven mad and laid waste to the village. Sephiroth is a formidable foe due to his mastery of magic along with his amazing strength, perhaps the scariest fact is however his ability to take on multiple forms in the final battle! The image of Sephiroth walking through the burning ruins of Nibelheim is extremely iconic and one many fans will always treasure.

4. GlaDOS (Portal)

Definitely a villain that will go down in the history books, GlaDOS managed to constantly flit between being helpful, hilarious and malicious to just completely terrifying! GlaDOS was a brilliant villain concept because throughout Portal you actually had no one else to interact with, and even though GlaDOS would occasionally say something a bit odd you shrugged it off, why should you doubt her, she's been right so far? Then on your way to the cake BOOM your world crumbles and you see your fiery death moving ever closer, thats right! Never before have you met such a devious yet calm voice. Some of her tactics are just pure evil, during your time alone within the test centre GlaDOS makes you befriend an inanimate cube (yes it happens, the love grows) only to then force you to incinerate your newly found partner! She may not be a tough fight physically but mentally you struggle, as all throughout the fight GlaDOS babbles on, making you feel guilty and even hinting that the world outside of the test centre isn't worth seeing. A great villain.

3. Bowser (Mario/Super Mario/Super Mario 64)

That pesky famous pasta guzzling plumber has to have an arch enemy, and that enemy is King Koopa (which eventually became Bowser). Bowser has a consistent urge to rule the Mushroom Kingdom, usually starting by kidnapping Princess Peach, quickly followed by using his control over an army of Goombas and other mutants to help finish the job. Bowser has seven children seen throughout the games, but the most notable is Bowser Jr, who after debuting in Super Mario Sunshine, has been in almost every Mario title since! ...Did I mention Bowser is a gigantic Turtle?.....

2. Majora (The Legend Of Zelda: Majoras Mask)

Possibly one of the weirdest and most vile villains within the zelda series is Majora Majora is an evil being inhabiting €œMajoras Mask€ it may appear as just an inanimate object but it clearly has intelligence, with the ability to speak clear either through a host or using its own power. Majora has no true known form, during links final fight with Majora it changes form numerous time showing off its strength and power. Majora is so evil, it takes over the skull kid simply to seal away the earths €œfour giants€ before summoning the moon (giving it a really angry face in the process) to destroy the world of Termina Might I mention Majora is giggling all the while as this all unfolds? EVIL!

1. Kefka Palazzo (Final Fantasy VI)

€œREAD MY LIPS! MERCY IS FOR WHIMPS! THERE€™S A REASON €œOPPOSE€ RHYMES WITH €œDISPOSE€...IF THEY GET IN YOUR WAY, KILL THEM!!€ -Kefka Palazzo Kefka Palazzo is the primary villain and final boss of Final Fnatasy VI, starting off as Emperor Gestahls court mage, happy to follow orders, Kefkas starts as your standard minion. However, after attacking towns and draining them of power, Kefkas eventually overthrows Gestahl growing stronger and stronger still. Kefka isn't on this list because he is a murderous, psychopathic, blood thirsty lunatic (although he is all those things) and its not because he's an all powerful mage, no. Kefka actually becomes the god of magic itself and destroys the world, he actually succeeds where so many of his peers have failed, the world is left in ruin and he holds ultimate power! (ok so this changes later on but lets let him have this one, shall we?). So thats the end of my list of the top 50 game villains ever. These villains to my mind stood out because they had a rich back story, had such a great evil premise or simply because they're so built into my gaming past. I'm sure there are some differing opinions out there so feel free to comment!
