50 Memorable Moments That Defined The Last Gaming Generation

25. So Much Dying....

Dark Souls Who knew dying, over and over again, could be so enthralling? Who knew it would push you to be better than you were before, challenging you in a way that other games hadn't for years? This gaming moment of course goes to the many, many ways to die in Dark Souls. Whether you're accidentally tumbling off a cliff due to a button pressing error, killed by the lowliest enemy in the game after they snuck up on you or smashed to pieces by the buttocks of a giant demon, there's plenty of ways to die in Dark Souls. My most memorable experience with the game comes courtesy of Chaos Witch Queelag. No matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't do it. After about five hours of fighting, I finally, finally beat her. The joy I felt was unreal. I may have even done a little jig. Everyone who has played Dark Souls has had one of these moments.

24. Alone Again

Walking Dead1 You know everyone, just thinking about it makes me tear up again. I love it when a game gets you so involved you simply must burble like a child when everything finally hits the fan, and the Walking Dead, Telltale's superb narrative adventure, had more than its fair share of memorable, poignant moments. The most memorable of these is just before the credits roll on Episode 5. Lee, the character you've been playing as for 5 episodes now, has finally been defeated by the zombie virus. Despite severing his arm to stop it, the virus eventually takes him, leaving Clementine, the amazing little girl he rescued in episode 1, all alone. Their final exchange, where Clementine must make a very important decision, was absolutely heartbreaking. It was also such a cliffhanger and had me clamoring for season 2 to come out soon.

23. Jettison That Cargo

Uncharted 3 Plane Ok, so Uncharted 1 was pretty awesome. 2 was perhaps the best in the series. 3, however, was the most visually stunning overall and benefited from Naughty Dog's extensive experience with the PS3. The most memorable scene of Uncharted 3 for me was the absolutely epic section where Nathan Drake finds himself fighting in a steadily damaged plane. Whether it was chasing after the plane with Elena, fighting enemies as the plane went down or Nate's last ditch grab onto a piece of cargo and drifting down into the desert, the spectacle of this section was utterly incredible. The next section, which saw Nate trek across the desert, also showed off the incredible visuals that Naughty Dog were capable of creating.
