1. Saving The World Ain't Important

Who'd have ever thought that developers Naughty Dog could produce something even better than Uncharted? In the case of The Last of Us, they succeeded in every single way and produced what is, for me, the finest gaming experience of this entire generation. So lifelike you could almost touch it, amazingly acted, scary, moving and downright fun to play, the bleak world of The Last of Us is one of the finest takes on post-apocalyptic fiction I've ever seen. Joel's story of bonding with Ellie, a young girl under his care, is filled with memorable moments, character development and amazing sights to see. The most amazing moment out of the lot comes at the games' climax. Ellie, who is immune to a plant spore that turns nearly everyone into raging lunatics, is the sole hope for the human race in combating this evil. The only catch is that she needs to be dead so they can fish out her brain and find out what makes it tick. Joel, torn between his love for Ellie and the future of the human race, finally makes a decision. He storms the medical facility where Ellie is held, takes her back and scorns the only hope that mankind has. It's a harsh, selfish decision, but you can understand why Joel did it. His final lie to Ellie, that the people who were using Ellie to form a cure had simply given up, was incredibly fitting and a great hook for the future of what is now sure to be a new franchise.
So, did I miss anything out? I've tried to include a true varied taste of everything that's happened in gaming over the last few years, but I can only do so much. Perhaps there's moments out there that moved you that are outside of this list, and if this is the case, why not comment down below and tell me exactly what they are?All that remains is to say thank you for reading, and I hope we'll all be reuniting in another ten years for the most memorable experiences of next-next gen!
