It was easy to be skeptical about how diverse No Man's Sky's planets would actually be given that the game's mathematical "seed" is generating them from data piped into it by Hello Games, but the game still serves up pleasant surprises after over 40 hours of play.

Yes, you'll definitely come across similar-ish planets every so often, and some creatures look kinda-samey every now and then, but for the most part there's a strong amount of variation, ensuring that repetition is staved off a lot longer than you might expect.

The great thing about this game is the community, and it's easy to see the variation from sites like Reddit, where players are quick to post their insane discoveries for the world to see. You might not have seen a flying worm for yourself yet, but keep plugging away and you just might, or maybe something even more awesome.
