Nostalgia is a dangerous thing. By dwelling on good times of the past, it can bring into sharp focus dissatisfaction with the present. And more often than not, these reflections of days gone by are heavily romanticised; trying to rekindle distant happiness can often serve up nothing but disappointment.

All in all, then, recreating your first date is probably a bit of sh*t idea, especially when most first dates are stressful, awkward affairs that do little to indicate any long-term love interest.

Re-enacting your first gaming session on the other hand, has far fewer pitfalls, and is likely more fun. Instead of reminiscing about how you felt when you first met, it's much safer to recall your original thoughts when you first played Grim Fandango together - so long as it doesn't dredge up lingering frustration about your partner's inability to solve the game's most basic puzzles.

And if the night doesn't turn out as enjoyable as it was the first time, why, you can simply blame the games for aging poorly. There are no losers in this game!

He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
