7 Stages Of Relating To An EA Sports Soundtrack

Step 4: Diminishing Returns

The longer you're in the game, the more things begin to devolve. That's true for any pro athlete, and it's true in one specific way for anyone holding a controller and directing the avatars of those athletes: enjoyment of the accompanying soundtrack. The songs that you really enjoyed begin to lose their luster. Those you thought were okay become forgettable or annoying. The ones you didn't like become the bane of your existence. Whatever status a song on the soundtrack had earned over time, it's lessened with every listen. Considering that you play hours and hours of the game, and only have perhaps 40 minutes to an hour of music to accompany it, it simply can't stay fresh for the duration of the experience. Perhaps EA could one day make soundtrack updates part of the deal over the course of a year to address that, but that isn't why we're here today. For now, just be content to know that your soundtrack enjoyment undeniably diminishes over time.
