4. Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy (2006)

The second instalment in Lego's original, movie-inspired releases centred around the original
Star Wars trilogy. Following the journey of Luke and co, the game provided an embellished account of the events of the first three films. With a host of gags, strategic boss battles and ponderous platforming sequences, the game was as thus received very favourably by both critics and fans. And it's small wonder it did, too. Whereas the original
Lego Star Wars revitalised the gaming world's interest in Lego-themed video games, its sequel all but perfected what was already considered a classic concept. Though it would subsequently be criticised for its unchallenging nature, it was conversely accredited with opening up the gaming market to a more family-friendly audience. Whatever your stance on the matter, when a game this good leads to the creation of
Indiana Jones,
Batman and
Harry Potter-themed releases, you know its on the right track.
