8 Exact Moments Video Games Went Off The Rails
1. Playing Your Own Music - Vib Ribbon
To actually describe what's going on in Vib Ribbon is actually a pretty big challenge, seeing as the game was shipped with little to no actual explanation nor certified plot, therefore I can hear you asking yourself "how in the heck is this game going to go off the rails when it's clearly intentionally free-falling into the abyss?"
Well, my friends, the true brain-breaking moment comes when you decide you've heard enough of the prescribed soundtrack provided on the disc, and instead pop one of your own CDs into the hungry maw of the PS1.
You see, the game is so low usage on the game's internals, that the entire experience can be loaded into the machine's RAM, freeing up the use of the CD reader, meaning you can now put your own tunes into the game and play along!
Remember, this was 1999, a phone that could play Snake was still the talk of the town, so being able to throw Vibri down all sorts of mad courses to the likes of Megadeth, greebo dance through the likes of Nirvana and Alice in Chains, or skip along to some lounge jazz, was absolutely astounding.
Hell, I still bust this game out every once in a while to mess around with modern tracks.
