8 Gaming Easter Eggs You Won't Believe

Easter eggs have been a part of video games ever since Warren Robinett hid his name in the depths of Adventure in 1979. Easter eggs represent a break in the environment of the game, and while some might be subtle references or jokes, others can be completely over the top. Easter eggs remind the player that even the most serious of developers still have a sense of humor. However, not all easter eggs are created equal. I've compiled a list of unique easter eggs that are meant to take players totally by surprise. It's one thing if an NPC references another game in the series, or if a character is named after a designer, but what about huge fire-breathing chickens? What about fighting a horde of demon cows? These ridiculous and unbelievable easter eggs will be highlighted in this list. Enjoy! NOTE: The infamous "Hot Coffee" mod for GTA: San Andreas is not included on this list. Despite its technical classification as an easter egg, it can only be accessed by exploiting the game code, not by simply playing through the game. Whoever says "lol idiot wat about teh sex in GTA???" will get socked in right their ugly mug. Okay, let's get started.

8. Halo 3 - Caveman Family

Halo 3 is a game that takes its sci-fi trappings very seriously. The entire Halo series deviates very little from the rich environment created by Bungie, which is why stumbling upon a group of hairy neanderthals is so outlandish. It doesn't fit in with the distinct Halo atmosphere in any any way. They just inexplicably exist, nestled into a corner. Furthermore, they're just plain creepy!

It looks like the developers just grafted Lenny Kravitz's head onto a gorilla's body. Apparently, the face is actually that of Marcus Lehto, a senior employee Bungie. Whatever the explanation, it's still a strange addition to the Halo universe.
