3. Chaos Blast - Shadow The Hedgehog

Mega Man Legends
Sega

Oh Shadow The Hedgehog, what a weird game you were.

Coming out at a time when Team Sonic was throwing coke-covered ideas at a wall then realizing there was no wall and that it was just a hole leading to video game storefronts, this title was a bundle of odd design choices. From edgy-hedgy's who wield guns to the fact that you start off the game working with the main villain, it was clear from the off that this was not your typical Sonic title.

This was less "Gotta Go Fast" and more "Gotta Dismantle The World Government!"

Stranger still, the game offered you options in how you'd like to play through missions, either helping the heroes of the franchise like Sonic and Tails, or continuing to side with the main antagonist. In doing the latter you'd gain access to a pretty awesome move called "The Chaos Blast" which obliterates every single lifeform in the area. Yeah, you become a walking nuclear bomb, how cool is that?

Now I know that some might point out that siding with the heroes nets you the ability to use Chaos Control which does make you invulnerable, super fast, and super strong, but here's the issue. When you're moving at the speed of sound, you're actively missing about 90% of collectibles in the area, meaning that if you want to see everything and net the extra ending you actively had to slow down and likely... just be evil. Ahhh mandatory suffering!
