8 Overhyped Video Games That Became Massive Disappointments
2. Cyberpunk 2077
Urrrrgh.
Talking about Cyberpunk, for me especially, is a draining task, as I was so on board the hype train for this that I wasn't just in first class, I was up at the front shovelling coal on the fire for the drunk and deranged train operator. I wanted to love this game so very much because it seemed to tick all the boxes, even those I didn't know needed to be ticked!
A grimy sci-fi setting, a huge open world to explore, body modifications aplenty, it sounded too good to be true. And that's because it was.
From review outlets playing versions of the game on PC that were far more stable than both console generations which slanted perspective on the title, to the litany of bugs and issues that rendered the game unplayable for many, Cyperpunks cyber-funk hit hard and wallowed for weeks after launch thanks to issues with the devs being able to patch the title and even a supposed hack of their own database.
When Cyberpunk shines it's lke a brilliant diamond, but all too many times was it just buried by absolute cack, and not even the delightful Keanu Reeves could save the project from being rightly lambasted for its poor quality control. Again, my heart wants to tell me that the game will become a rightful masterpiece, but the damage has already been done for many.
