8 Things We Learned From The New Pokémon Sun/Moon Trailer

6. Synchro Evolutions?

It's unlikely any of us continued watching the Pokémon animé beyond the first few series, on the basis that we were no longer twelve, and it was actually a bit gash. But for those of you who did, you'll already be familiar with the concept of 'synchro evolutions'.

It's some convoluted drivel, but I'll do my best to explain. Basically, after seeing a Spewpa in peril, the world's most powerful trainer Ash Ketchum and his trusty Greninja synchronised their feelings in order to save the imperilled Pokémon. Ash's froggy friend even assumed an appearance similar to his master during the process, because IT'S NONSENSE.

Anyway, it'd be unusual for such a significant concept to remain exclusive to the television series, and the recent Sun and Moon trailer gave the clearest hint yet that it's about to appear in-game.

Through a series of entertaining interpretive dances, each representing the type of the intending Pokémon, trainers appear to gain synergy with their charge, which unleashes a powerful signature attacks in the process.

Those clearly capable of such a special attack are the three starters, and Pikachu. It's always bloody Pikachu, isn't it?

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
