With word that Hideo Kojima has signed a "letter of intent" to work with Xbox on a key exclusive going forward, it lines up with a nascent project he was apparently trying to get off the ground on Google Stadia.

Said project would be something "cloud-based", to which Microsoft actively hired former Google Stadia and Left 4 Dead developer Kim Swift to help Kojima bring his vision together.

In terms of specifics, the only indication of what Kojima was working on came from a VGC report on an in-progress "episodic horror game" for Stadia. Kojima was apparently "p*ssed" when all his work went sideways as the service fell apart, referring to the project as something "revolutionary" and "major".

Joining the dots and factoring in Microsoft's comments about targeting Japanese developers and the Japanese market going forward, securing Kojima and letting him release his ambitious horror idea across Xbox Game Pass streaming would be the perfect solution.

Either way, besides some DLC being added to Death Stranding as a "Director's Cut", it seems Hideo Kojima is pushing for new IP as much as possible going forward.
