8 Video Game Decisions NOBODY Made Their First Time

3. Taking The Shield - Ghost's N Goblins

The Ghost's N' Goblins series is very much at the head of the table when it comes to franchises that loves to utterly screw with you, as across its rather lengthy tenure, the series has chucked more impossible bosses, pixel-perfect platform sections, and logs that decide they want to switch direction at a moments notice, THANK YOU Ghost's N' Goblins Ressurection I REALLY NEEDED THAT.

Still, the original middle finger we were told to swivel on was that of the Holy Shield troll that made its appearance in the last level of the original NES experience. Now throughout this game aside from learning every possible tone expression of the word "!*$%", you'll have had one core message baked into your very soul, something that if you say in the mirror three times will summon the Angry Video Game Nerd to berate you with bad special effects.

Get. The. Knife

The Knife weapon has a decent throw rate, hits for only slightly less damage than the lance, and will save your ass more times than you can count. Therefore you begin to actively avoid other weapons whenever they drop, something which the Holy Shield weapon completely punishes.

Should you decide to forgo this weak, short-ranged and otherwise pathetic weapon, you'll be booted right back to the start of level 5! That's an error you'll be sure to rectify on your next attempt, is what I would have said if I hadn't launched the console through the goddam wall.
