8 Video Game Secrets That ONLY Appear On Xmas Day
1. Dark Castle - Xmas Tree
And so we end with a festive Easter Egg that isn't some over the top and over-elaborate affair, but a relatively subtle one found in Dark Castle.
If you've never played Dark Castle, it dropped back in 1986 for the Macintosh and was developed by Silicon Beach Software and took the early gaming world by storm with its challenging gameplay, devious level design, and graphics that are just the right amount of goofy.
And all this little secret is, is a Christmas tree that appears in the main hall of the game when you play the title on December 25th. That's it. A simple image of a tree, but there's something so decidedly perfect about this tiny nod that I had to include it. Maybe it's because it strips things all the way back to what this time of year should be about, not lavish gifts or super babies with deadbeat dads, just togetherness either with friends of the family, having a good time and making the best of things.
Or maybe it's just a cool tree.
