When it comes to RPG's it seems that every game in the genre realizes it's got to have a "gimmick" and push said USP as hard as it bloody can in the marketing. For Dragons Dogma that was its "Pawn" system, a rather creepy feature that saw the player form a party of blank-minded humanoid creatures who would do their bidding and aid them in combat.

I'm not exaggerating when I say that this is a little odd, especially considering as the game states that these beings, also known as Myrmidons, have no free will or emotions of their own and will do anything they're told without question, which itself raises a tonne of ethical and shady moral questions., but to be honest they only question you'll find yourself asking over and over is "HOW DO I SHUT YOU THE f**k UP?!"

Seriously, there is only so many times I can hear "HARPY" being screeched at me like I'm in a COD lobby full of twelve-year-olds before I've had enough.

It completely derails a tense fight when you've got some braindead dolt belting out useless information over and over, but at the same time, the game makes you feel guilty about trying to curb their personality further as if you do want to make your Pawns even more docile, you have to sit them in the naughty chair and tell them to pipe down.

It's a thoroughly unpleasant experience to do so, which may mean you just try your best to ignore them, yet they'll always be in the background, chipping away at your sanity.
