9 2017 Video Games Nobody Asked For
The world could do without these games.
2017 has been one Hell of a year for gaming so far, with a glut of well-reviewed titles making it damn-near impossible to find time to play through all of them.
The year isn't even half-way done, though, and alongside the slew of much-anticipated, must-play titles, there are plenty of games that, regardless of their eventual quality, aren't especially wanted or needed by gamers at large.
Whether out-of-nowhere sequels to mediocre games, dubious spin-offs or releases that would simply be better off as cheap DLC, nobody asked for these titles, yet they're landing over the next few months regardless.
Again, perhaps a few of them will prove surprisingly vital efforts, but it's probably smart to keep your expectations low...
9. Metal Gear Survive
Release Date: TBA
The first Metal Gear Solid title following Hideo Kojima's acrimonious departure from Konami after the release of MGS V, Metal Gear Survive sees Mother Base sucked into a wormhole, taking the base's soldiers to an alternate reality where they must fend off a horde of zombies. Yup.
Fan response to the reveal has been mostly indifferent, while spiced with a little anger that Kojima's franchise is being transformed into a generic zombie shooter in the quest for easy cash.
Could It Be Any Good?: It's using MGS V's Fox Engine, so the gameplay and graphics should be silky smooth, but it's hard to imagine this being anything more than an uninspired shooter that loses its appeal after about an hour.
