9 Genuinely Haunted Video Games You Won't Believe

2. Minecraft - Herobrine

Zelda Redeads
Mojang

Next to ol' Slendy, Herobrine is arguably the highest profile of creepy urban legend floating around. Not that it's a competition.

Slenderman may have come first, but Herobrine has definitely hit a bigger audience, given the popularity of the Minecraft franchise.

So who is this mysterious, weird looking Steve clone with no pupils?

Depending on what you read, it's Notch's [Minecraft's creator] brother. Or it's a ghost, or it's the remnants of a disgruntled Mojang employee getting revenge for being fired. Who knows.

But what is known is just how creepy something can appear in a game that's mostly aimed at kids. Well, if he has appeared at all.

Again, there's never been any real confirmation as to whether Herobrine is real. Various stories from come force about the mysterious entity and his path of fairly neat destruction before disappearing.

Sure, Mojang and Microsoft have made jokes about it... but is that just a cover up for something far sinister?

The curse of Herobrine lives on...
