AEW's Fight Forever video game officially launches on 29 June, but gamers all over the world have one question: Will this be a WWE 2K23 rival, or is it likely to become more of a curious alternative without any steam like TNA's old iMPACT release, or WWE sideshows like All-Stars and 2K Battlegrounds?

Only time will tell on that one.

Interest in Fight Forever really depends on which type of wrestling gamer you are. If you've been turned off by WWE 2K's increasing slant towards realism over the years, then you'll be pleased to know that AEW's product fancies zooming you back in time towards gems from the N64 era. Early SmackDown titles have also been referred to as influences.

That's perhaps no shocker given Yuke's are involved. The Japanese developer expressed concerns about the direction of WWE's 2K franchise before leaving after 2K19. Now, they're keen to charm All Elite's fanbase, and delight those aching for arcade perfection all at once.

So, should you buy it? Check out details on the roster, Story Mode, match types, creation suite and gameplay in this article. All the info here should help you make a decision!

THQ Nordic

Kenny Omega has gone on record to say there will be approx 50 wrestlers on-disc when Fight Forever launches next month. 41 of those have been announced via various lists over the past while, and the lineup makes for interesting reading.

None other than Cody Rhodes is included (albeit via a shop using in-game currency), which means he'll be the first worker in history to appear in WWE-branded and AEW-branded games the same year. Other top names include Omega himself, as well as expected favourites like Chris Jericho, Hangman Page, Britt Baker and more.

Legends like Sting will also be included, which is a real plus. It's believed that more roster members will be added as DLC packs post-launch too, so it's possible THQ fancies offering some sort of live service model they can constantly update.

Despite his up-in-the-air status until recently, we can confirm that CM Punk is included on the base roster at launch.
