Anthem Review: 4 Ups & 9 Downs

Ups...

4. The STUNNING Visuals

Technical issues aside - including the game's rather un-generous PC optimisation - Anthem is a damn fine-looking game in its finest moments.

If you've got a system beefy enough to run it above 1080p, it's a truly remarkable experience aesthetically - especially in 4K - with particle effects and environmental textures which feel like a true window into what we can probably expect from next-gen gaming.

Though it's a shame the game world itself isn't more teeming with life and geographically diverse, what's here is certainly one of the most impressively realised from the pure perspective of visual fidelity.

Soaring through the sky is a literally breathtaking feat at times, which makes it all the more of a shame that the game as a whole is such a superficial pleasure.
