AC Valhalla Secret Boss
Ubisoft

With Valhalla being the 12th official title in the Assassin's Creed franchise, you'd think that Ubisoft would have run out of ideas. But take one look at this latest instalment and you'll see nothing less than RPG innovation at its finest.

To the delight of many fans, the developer has ensured a return to AC's roots, building the game around a unique story that is both intriguing and enjoyable. And while you'd easily get your moneys worth by only playing and completing the main storyline, it's Valhalla's side quests that really push it over the edge and make it a worthy competitor for best RPG of 2020.

Since the completion of each side quest grants you experience as well as some wealth or a deeper understanding of the world, exploration is a definite must. It can, however, be dangerous to those who trust Valhalla's power mechanic and believe they'll be safe by rising above the power requirement of a specific region.

See, there are quite a few secret bosses littered throughout Valhalla that don't play according to the rules. If you're looking to test your metal or just want to know more about these overpowered bosses, here are some of the best.

10. Erik Loyalskull

AC Valhalla Secret Boss
Ubisoft

To the north of the Fornburg waterfall you'll find a man by the name of Erik Loyalskull. As it turns out he's one of the 6 lost drengr of Ragnar Lothbrok, the first Viking to make a name for himself in England.

Talking to the drengr will have you learn that he feels a great amount of guilt for not dying alongside his King, and would like to make amends the Viking-way by fighting you to the death. It is only with a warriors-death that one can enter Valhalla, after all.

But before you say yes to this challenge keep in mind that although Fornburg has a power rating of 1, Erik Loyalskull is a seasoned drengr with a power level of around 50, so you might have some trouble taking him on immediately.

The key to this fight is staying mobile and wearing him down. Creating some distance will usually trigger a 5 hit throwing axe combo which can easily be blocked. If you aren't wielding a shield, get ready to dodge and take the opportunity to hit his vital points with your bow. When in close quarters avoid his heavy and runic attacks and parry his animated overhead attack.

Once sufficiently weakened it's all about the dodge and counterattack. Simply rinse and repeat until you've sent him to Valhalla.
