Batman: Arkham Knight - 10 Villains We Want To See
10. Azrael
You may remember this mysterious gentleman watching you from afar in Arkham City, spouting cryptic nonsense and symbols when approached. Why is he watching Batman? The reason is not yet known, but Azrael's speech certainly hinted that he'd be showing up in the inevitable sequel. After Batman follows him around all over the city, Azrael states:
I bring a message: dark days are coming, Batman. The Prophecy is coming true, you are the warrior who will close the gates of Hell, you are the one who will save this day, and in doing so, events will occur that you cannot stop, from the ashes of Arkham the fires will rage and Gotham will burn, and you, you will burn too.
He also promises that he and Batman will meet again, and the perfect time for this to come to fruition is in Arkham Knight. What's intriguing about this is that the prophecy that Azrael refers to may have wider implications to the narrative, perhaps tying in with Ra's al Ghul's plot arc and maybe even a dash of Scarecrow thrown in for good measure.
