4. School Buses/Children In GTA III
The school bus was a vehicle
originally planned to appear in Grand Theft Auto III (and seen above). It was distinctive in that it was the traditional bright yellow of American school buses but was redesigned and modelled on the standard bus vehicle by the time of the game's release. The existence of the school bus in GTA III was first revealed by pre-release screenshots and it is thought that the vehicle was dropped from the game to prevent any controversy, such as killing school children or the depiction of school children in-game. The school bus does survive in the final version of GTA III, but only in the form of wrecks found in the 8-Ball Autos compound and Harwood Autocrusher and Junkyard in Harwood, Portland. Whilst we are on the subject, I feel that school children and buses should be depicted in the next Grand Theft Auto game, though only as a piece of decorative scenery that cannot be interacted with or destroyed, much in the same way as the tram from San Andreas.
