Bioshock 4: 5 Perfect Fan Theory Locations
4. US Mars Base
Another new setting could be a retro futuristic science fiction dystopia, set in space.
Perhaps the US Government has built a base on Mars as part of their eternal space race battle against the Soviet Union. However, it has gone horribly wrong. Tools designed to keep astronauts alive (Plasmids) have turned them into unrecognizable figures and the base has degraded into to a dilapidated mess, rife with Martian creatures, crazed astronauts, and more. To build on this old school science fiction theme, laser weapons could be put into the player’s use.
You will play as an agent sent by the US to shut down the facility before the Soviets, or anyone else, finds out and decries the failure as an embarrassment to the United States and its capitalistic system.
In return, you will be hailed as a hero and paid handsomely. However, the government’s intentions may be more sinister and trust must be earned.
Other elements of the 1950s martian science fiction could be used, including nuclear powered tools, alien life, rockets, and boxy space suits that look more like toasters and microwaves than actual comfortable space wear. With this theme, this new Bioshock’s setting would be wacky but dark, keeping with the franchise’s central themes.
