In recent years, battle royale games have been extremely popular. It started with the likes of H1Z1 and PUBG, but there is now an undisputed king when it comes to BR games - Fortnite.

Ever since its release in 2017, Fortnite has been the world's most popular game by far. This is largely due to its unique building mechanics and kid-friendly nature. However, recently Fortnites popularity has begun to dwindle thanks to poor in-game changes.

Another battle royale has since exploded onto the scene at the perfect time - Call Of Duty's Warzone. This game is a lot different from Fortnite as it's more realistic and aimed at an older audience. Despite this, Warzone has gained huge popularity and even gained 30 million players in a quicker time frame than Fortnite.

So, is Fortnite finally beginning to die, and will its successor be Warzone?

If this is to happen, there are a few key things Activision must do.

5. Keep The Game Balanced

We start with something that although obvious, is very important to a game's success.

For a long time, Fortnite was perfectly balanced with not too many overpowered weapons. However, as time went on Epic Games started adding more and more stupidly over-powered weapons as they attempted to keep casual players around.

In doing this, they annoyed a lot of the hardcore players and even drove many away from their game. This is a mistake Warzone need to learn from as without the hardcore players there really is no casuals.

Up until recently, Warzone had one weapon that stood out as being overpowered. The .357 Akimbo pistols were extremely good and used by almost everyone. Luckily, a recent patch saw these nerfed. If Warzone wants to beat Fortnite they need to keep up things like this.
