CTR: Nitro-Fueled Hands-On - 7 Ups & 2 Downs

One thing that always meant I preferred CTR over Mario Kart was increased speed and meaty physics.

It took Mario 22 years to add a 200cc mode in 2014's MK8 - something that finally brought it up to the sorts of speed Crash hit the ground with in 1999. Not only that, but the weight of the karts always meant you were throwing yourself into corners at such velocities, you had to consider your overall racing line that little bit more carefully.

Over the years, Mario has truly mastered the drifting side of things (you need to maintain one long enough for maximum boost, after all), but Crash always had a sense of momentum that no other kart racer came close to.

With one of my biggest fears being that all this would be lost in remaking a classic from a different developer, thankfully, Beenox have nailed the feel of gameplay and I couldn't be happier.
