One of Deus Ex’s central themes is transhumanism and is perhaps best exemplified by the character Gunther Hermann; a cyborg who has augmented his body to such an extent that he now barely resembles a human. Despite these extreme measures, Gunther is paranoid he is soon to be made obsolete by more advanced cyborgs such as JC Denton.

Deus Ex is a love letter to Cyberpunk - and is well worth checking out for anyone with an interest in the genre.
